When I stated earlier that I didn't like the Tobacco Burst, have to admit that I do like it on a Strat.

no trouble at all. I still struggle with trying to trip off the hideous sunburst that is on my mim tele, it's that polyurethane armor stuff , ghastly with the exception of paint the soles of hicking shoes to ensure that the soles will last longer than the hiker

my friend I feel and believe that your departure would be our loss, my loss.
\No apology is needed. Being very cynical and burned out, never really have trust in any thing that I can not see moving, well I am certainly prone to blurting out the grey-green stank frog on an embarrassingly regular basis.
I would encourage you to stay and continue to be part of this illuminating community. Your presence here is important
I don't know if you have brothers or sisters, but! me and mine squable all the time and yet we know the bond that we share is not to be dissolved by our occasional spats and hissy fits.
And yes sister did knock out two of my front teeth as surely as she had gone to dental school. When she tried to pay for the partials, I told her to buy mother a bottle of her favorite perfume, OPIUM and take her to FENTONS ice cream parlor some sweltering afternoon. you see with all the guilt she was experiencing, it was so entertaining how could I ask her to pay for the partial, though when our tempers begin to heat u I do take out my slobbery partial while facing her to keep from having to replace it. she still feels very guilty.

I was thinking about this discussion last night while watching a little TV; I have my guitars on hangers in that room.

During a commercial break with the television on mute, I was admiring the 3-tone burst on my JBass which has never been my favourite finish but as I took a moment to look at it, I thought to myself, it really is a nice finish. It's opaque so you can see the grain and it's a bit of a work of art. I've had it for so long, I never really look at it that way. Then I looked at the tobacco burst on my Ibanez AS100 which is like an ES335. I've seen a lot of finishes on 335's but aside from a vintage, yellowed blonde, I wouldn't want to have one that wasn't a tobacco burst. In my opinion, it's the best finish for that style guitar.

Anyway, I was sort of pondering this discussion last night and those were my thoughts. Carry on.

Thinking more on this subject, it seems that i like a burst that has the dark color more at the edge instead of the large triangular shape at the neck like most LP's seem to have. Maybe why I like the Tobacco Burst on a Strat and not on a LP. Same for the Cherry Burst.

Every time I sell a sunburst guitar, whatever the model, my wife asks if it is the guitar she bought me. Every time I have to get the ES135 out of it's case to persuade her that I still have it. I'm sure if I ony bought sunburst guitars I could get away with the same trick.

I started playing guitar back in the 70's. I could not afford Fender of Gibson, so I bought a couple of copies. The CSL Les Paul was sunburst which was great as all the copies at the time were black which I did not find attractive at the time. The Kasuga Strat was sunburst, but what I really wanted was a natural body so I had a friend who worked as a french polisher strip it for me. Initially I was shocked to find the blockwork body, but after a while grew to love it. I still have it, apart from a B/W/B scratchplate and a neck pickup replacement it is unchanged. *COMPLETELY TONGUE IN CHEEK* (but somewhat true)

To paraphrase: 'I don't like it so get rid of this hideous, ugly, overused finish. I don't care if some people actually like it, my opinion is all that matters so there is no reason for it to exist'.

Love sunburst. Always have, always will.

Some of these other colors make guitars look like M&M's.

I can't get excited about candy apple red or black guitars.
I'd own one, but they just don't float my boat.

    I love sunburst, even clownburst.
    I especially like cherryburst.
Two of my favorite sunburst guitars are the LP and the Hamer Sunburst.
Now, Squier has an antique burst Strat that makes me giggle.
I also like the blue burst finishes.

I'm not fond of Zombie/Kawasaki green guitars, pink guitars, nor purple guitars.
Don't mind if others like them. It has no adverse effect on my life.

After Googling images of Antigua Stratocaster, I understand the dislike.
That one makes me want to vomit. But, to each his own.

    I don't know...girls love sunburst.

Got the wife her lefty sunburst strat (MIM- a great one:) she won't play anything but that or her acoustic.

As long as classic/vintage is sought after sunburst will be with us-- get many and rotate two at a time...

I think I'll get her a sunburst Tele next...

I have always LOVED the Sienna sunburst. Please some tolerance for different finishes/colours.
I find some finishes absolutely ugly- but it's not my place to state it publically.

7 pages so far over a style choice. For me it depends on the guitar. I have an Epi Les Paul in honey burst that I love the look of and had a VM strat in 3 tone burst that I thought looked good but a bit of an old guy guitar. I really don't like it on Teles though. Just passed on a CVC because of it. Still, it's only taste and we all like different things.

my grandfather told me "kid it's a good thing, people being different and all, if we weren't we'd all be after the same women. That would be a real mess.
Does and one know if the Candy Apple Grey is going to be an optional color, soon?
