Bass player and new bride had a blow out to celebrate the holidays. After the party was over, she asked him to take the ashes out. He puts them in an ash pile. A couple of hours later, the place is burning. Everyone is safe, they now live at a motel. I had some personal gear there. When he called us, he told Laura, saying, "Well,Paul's played some smokey bars over the years, right?"

He had a lot of band gear, since we rehearsed there, but a professional cleaning company is taking care of most of that. All will be OK. But, it still makes me laugh. And he feels like a shamed puppy.

Aww, that stinks! Glad no one was hurt, but that's a major bummer. Happy to see you posting again, by the way.

Hey, I did that to my house. 'Cept it was a grease fire in the kitchen, and after 3 months we're still not back in.

Hope his repairs are quicker than mine!

Not a fun situation but at least no one was hurt. And I echo others' comments when I say it is good to see you back Paul.

Aw damn. Well, like everyone has said, at least no one was hurt, but that still is a rough way to start the year off.

I said this over in the other thread but it bears repeating. Glad to see you back!

Glad nobody was hurt. Now you can rehearse at your place. Less traveling while you're on the mend.

Good to hear from ya Paul!
I had a D-28 damaged in the back of my truck on the way back from a state park years ago. I thought the coals in the BBQ pit were long done. Broke my heart. The case got the worst of it...

If he wasn't such a good bass player... It's a little sad and ironic, but everyone is safe. I had a Traynor tube amp and some vintage pedals over there. I guess he hid them before the party. I was invited but had a feeling about things. Then I ended in the hospital. John Prine is right. It is a big ol' goofy world.

Thanks for all the good wishes. I've had a few people who've come up to me and said, "We did everything we could and didn't think you'd make it." It's the prayers, the vibes and love that got me through.

Hi Paul you had us worried for a while. That's a great "rock and roll" story there. Glad they're ok though.
