No it really isn't, if you go fly around in a small airplane where you can see really well you pretty much get the impression Massachusetts is a giant forest and there are not many people around.

Apparently 200 years ago they'd cut all the trees down for farms but now we've let everything grow back.

But there isn't much country music exposure here.. one person out of 100 likes it or something unless you start talking to musicians? And they only like the "tractor rock" pop country stuff that's in the country top 40 or whatever?

There's a big tradition of steel guitar in worship

I'm familiar with and appreciate that. My question is...

When is Paliament/Funkadelic going to hire a steel player? Somebody, get George Clinton on the phone. We really need to take care of this!

Maybe we could get steel guitar into rap music? Kanye, you like to think you're an innovator -- This could be the next big thing! And, it could make you eligible for an ACM award! You know you've been dying to win one of those, right?

Or, will you go onstage and snatch it out of Reba's hand, if you lose?

Yeah, we need to get Beyonce to hire a steel player -- That'll popularize it overnight, right there!

Just saying that, in the context of that clip I'd posted, you see steel performers outside of the neon moon/ten-gallon hat context. So, steel is not necessarily "country" by definition

You're not wrong, but I don't think most people see it that way.

And, c'mon, don't you wanna see Kanye win an ACM award? Kim needs one for the shelf in the downstairs bathroom, don't ya know!

Nonstop Tree Cover is not really a good indicator of Country(Nashville Pop) Music, though. What you should be looking for is corn, soybean and cotton fields, huge WalMart and Church parking lots and house trailers and Jim Walters homes in various states of disrepair.

I'm in the heavy wooded cover of the mountains of far Western North Carolina, in a setting the Carter Family would be most welcome in, and me and my neighbors listen to Gospel and 70s Rock and Alt Country and Bluegrass and Stringband. I'm often shocked how hard it is to find Luke Bryan or Jason Aldean or Darius Rucker on any radio station I can receive there - shocked and delighted, honestly.

I was really happy that Chris Stapleton got some love and won Album of the Year. Conversely, this has got to be rock bottom (I hope):

    Kane Brown and Lauren Alaina:

I don’t need to go there. I live there. I’m the mayor there.

I changed the acronym to something about albums or cheese or something ...

You should think about living on higher ground. The air is clearer. ;)

And thanks. These threads get ugly fast, as you know.
