I see great value for money here. At that price I'll take two!

Seriously, what do the people at Gibson smoke before deciding on their prices?

So let me get this straight. It's *more* money because it's made to look like a vintage gold-top that, were it real, would be worth *less* money because someone sprayed it over in black? Uh huh.

I think it works like this:
    IMG_3013.JPG
Two zeros added to the number if the dart hits the outer ring; three if it hits the inner ring. Single digit numbers are adjusted by an additional zero. Ta da! Gibson's pricing strategy!

Gibson with cloned Fender Custom Shop treatment.

They forgot to beat up the case and put a Guitar Aficionado sticker on it.

That Kerry green over darkburst makes me want to puke.

What is wrong with the people running Gibson? Year after year it just gets worse.

But, they're only six thousand dollars to start.
    Wonder where they finish?

This is reflecting the conundrum that happens when you have a set neck.

I am sure Gibson will sell those, but they do not really appeal to me.

Were there really that many Les Pauls that were painted over that they need to recreate them in this way? I can see people re-spraying an ugly piece of wood into a goldtop, or maybe someone spraying a gold top black if they were into that, but I didn't realize poorly repainted Les Pauls were common enough for it to be 'a thing' that people would seek out.

I am not really a relic guy, but a nice naturally worn looking relic job seems more appealing than imitating a hack paint job. But I'm not going to call Gibson stupid, I'm sure someone is looking at them thinking how cool they are, and it's not like they just make things without any market research or thought (despite what internet forums would suggest).

Why are Gibson prices so high??? The woods? being a set neck? the pickups? the contour tops? or the way it is being built? I really dont understand. Im not a fan of Les Pauls. But their prices really dont appeal to change my mind to pick one up and try it.

I like relic treatments, I may be the 1% of people who like the relic treatment, ONLY IF it's done tastefully. but I have never seen a beat up Les Paul. Every one I see is always looking great, shiny.

I've seen a lot of gibsons these past few weeks with shocking finish flaws, from paint overspray on binding, to binding that stopped short of the body and serious flaws under clear coat. What a great idea to turn that into a feature. Use your weakness as a strength.

In all seriousness, I think they look cool and I would put money on them playing and sounding incredible. I'm sure there's a target audience for this, and if they make them limited, they may be popular in the some circles. I'm certainly not the target for this product, and seems like a lot of people here aren't, but I'm sure there are people who will like this and I hope that they love em.

Each guitar is a "one-of-a-kind work of art" remember

There are usually a good number of collectors who will gladly pay whatever figure Gibson comes up with. An enviable position to be in I guess.
