kinda fun, They do a retro sound. But I think they do it well.
Lonerism is a killer LP.
Yeah, cool band. Singer kinda sounds like Lennon.
From here, Perth, sunny Australia!
My son was a big fan until he saw King Lizard in a small club in Visalia, CA.
Good thing I search before I post. I intended to start a TI thread with this song:
Big fan of Tame Impala. The touring memebers of the band have awesome side projects too! I caught Pond in a small bar a few months ago and was absolutely blown away. Joe was playing a tele too
I remember reading an interview with Neil Finn a few years ago where he praised their body of work. It was my first exposure to their music.
First few albums I didn't mind, but the 3rd one was dog crap. My son likes them, so I listen to most stuff via his bedroom door lol.
That’s funny because Currents was one of my favorites, it got played a lot a few years ago. A great album, IMHO
I've been following Tame Impala for quite a while now. Saw 10-06-15 gig at Radio City, and it was one of my greatest memories. Love all of Kevin's original work— I'm really hoping LP4 isn't too much like his recent collaborative efforts though.
Kevin actually just got married last week, so he'll be taking some well deserved time off.
I highly suggest you check out:
-Pond (Many of TI's live members. Kevin produces for them, and has played for them in the past)
-GUM (Jay Watson: TI's live drummer/keyboardist/ Pond's drummer/bassist)
-Mink Mussel Creek (Kevin's old band with someone from Pond)
-Melody's Echo Chamber (Kevin's ex. The first album was produced by Kevin while they were still together, but the second album is just as fantastic!)
That's the one. I just thought they lost that psychedelic edge with that one, but there you go.
Give it a few more listens. I was a hardcore Tame Impala fan for years before Currents, and I felt totally betrayed when the Let It Happen single dropped, and later when the album came out. After the 4th or 5th time, I really grew to love the album (except past life). After seeing many of the songs performed live, it cemented my love of Currents. It doesn't hold the same place in my heart that the first two LPs and the EP do, but that doesn't mean I don't love it the same.
