Rumors says that the drillman is not a real person,no one have ever see him!
Never seen you either... Nick are you real?
I just had lunch with him the other day Nick
Thanks Herb, now I believe he is real!!!
Could someone post the-email address for said legendary Drill man for me? In China ATM and find it hard to get any connections much at all, I think the Great Fire-wall of China combined with wife's half English/Chinese computer makes it difficult to type a full sentance without bursting into Chinese hieroglyphics。
Here you go Dave,
Thanks Andre they certainly have a large range, but appear very expensive compared to other sites, although the quality may be better.
5 days later and the resin is still tacky. I tried another batch, this time with more hardener. We will see.
Had a free hour so I started to shape the neck with the facet technique.
Thanks again Marty
you can also see on that picture that I have put my wings on.
Marty save our time with that that technique he post, best neck carving technique ever!
I just passed along what I was taught. Charles Fox and George Morris showed it to me in 1980. . The beauty is once you've done a few, it's faster than doing it with a machine operation and you can change the variables more easily. Plus it is kind of therapeutic.
No matter what I try, the resin I have does not cure. Probably passed it shelf life by a couple of year.
I bought another brand of resin that I'm testing.
In the meantime I installed my fretboard on my locator pins
I cut the pockets for the inlays
cleaned it up carefully.
Will wait top see the result of the test of my new resin before comiting myself on this fretboard.
Happy father's day my friends
Nice clean cnc work.
Happy Father's day Andre!
The new resin did cure properly, but the color is translucent
For that reason I coated the cavity with black lacquer
I also created a tape dam
filled the cavity
Put a plexiglass on top to protect as much as possible against dust settling in it
You can see that my dam may not have been high enough.
We'll see tomorrow, hopefully it will cure and be black enough.
My dam did not work.
Material fled the scene. You see that the cavities are not full
Worked to improve my dam
and filled with a second batch of resin
I'm Canadian, but I'm no beaver
You can thin your resin with acetone to make it flow more, just saying....
I had to say something!!!
Thanks Nick, very helpful
now you tell me
Is the stuff shrinking at all, or just getting away?
Just getting away. My dam is leaking all over the place.
