I had the Vox Mini Super Beetle delivered today.

First, it is super light. The whole thing assembled is under 20 lbs.
Second, it can best be described as cute. How can you not love an amp this small.

    super beetle small.JPG

Thirdly, it sounds great! It reminds me very much of my AC15, although it doesn't have quite as much bass. A 10 inch speaker does that. It is, however, considerably bassier than my AC4. It may be due to a somewhat larger, open back cab, or it might be the custom speaker.

This is going to be a lot of fun. It turns down and sounds really good at low volumes, but it can be turned up plenty loud for a small venue gig. It's going to make my living room time more interesting for sure.

Nice! I have the MV50AC, which is maybe (I think?) the head version of that, sans reverb. Just like you said, it sounds great at low volumes and ALSO turned up loud. I use mine with a 4ohm 2x12 cab... I can stuff the head unit right in the open back.

It's got to sound awesome with that Casino. I love mine with both of my Lil' Night Trains or with my AC15C1X (well, with Weber Alnico Blue Dog).

I use Weber 10" Alnico Blue Pups with my LNTs. I'd love to try them with the MSB, or a 30 watt, 8Ω Blue Pup in the MSB cab. Once they break in they're sweet and chimey, yet warm and give you that Vox tone.

A Celestion Gold 10 would probably be great with it also.

If that's the Super Beetle, wouldn't this be a Mini Super Beetle?

My family was a VW fan. Karmas Ghias, small window Beetles, Super Beetles, Square Backs, Slant Backs. From ‘64-‘85 we had at least one VW in the driveway

Vox amps are cool and I should have one in my stable....but I don’t

I had a buddy who had one of those back in 1966. He put a sheave pulley on the generator, and would open the (trunk/hood?) and wrap a lawn mower pull start rope around the pulley and start the engine right up. He enjoyed having people go. Whaaaattt?

Vox has a couple of smaller amps that I've liked lately it seems.

No. Looks like a standard. Super Beetles have McPherson strut front ends, instead of the classic link pin or ball joint beams. Makes them look goofy, and are poor candidates for off road racing/modification. A rallye racing bug would definitely never in a million years be a Super Beetle. Just sayin'

EDIT: oh yeah, and the year model is too early for SB.

EDIT: Where were we? Oh yeah. Vox. Cool amp and geetar!

I've always felt that Vox was onto something with the Brian May AC-30.
    One Knob...Volume.
Love it...would have paired nicely with my PRS SE ONE, also a one knob with a single P-90 on the bridge.
    What a concept!!!
    A two knob rig!!!

I have it packaged back up and wrapped under the tree. I just pulled it out to make sure it was undamaged and functional. I'll play around with it more while I'm fixing Christmas dinner and afterward.

The amp has a guitar input on top, a headphone/Line Out, and two speaker outputs on the back. The controls on top are Volume, Reverb, Tremolo, Bass, Treble, and Gain in that order. There is also a small on/off switch. The back also has switches for Eco mode On/Off, EQ (flat or deep) and impedance (4, 8 or 16).

The preamp and tremolo circuits are both Nutube (each circuit having it's own) based and the amp section is a class D transistor amp.

A lot of punch in a very small package. It is, however, almost double the size of one of the MV50 series amps; I suspect that is, at least partly, due to aesthetics.
