So I got a Blacktop Tele with 2 humbuckers. Hot Vintage Alnico's ... they are decent I guess, but I am wanting more clarity ... they sound a little muddy to me (particularly the neck pup) ... (of course, I am a single coil kind of guy and perhaps I'm expecting that same clarity from the humbuckers and it ain't gonna happen) ...

Anyway, looking for recommendations on pickup upgrades ... I found some threads that suggested these:

    Seymour Duncan
neck - SH PG1 Pearly Gates
    bridge - SH-4 JB

Can anyone comment if these are the best choices for clarity or offer other suggestions? Also, would a tone pot upgrade be recommended? Thanks.

Disappointed you didn't get more response than this... would like some input myself as I'm considering swapping out the stockers for the same reason... more articulation and clarity...

For clarity (and a hum-free single coil mode as well), try JBE Two-Tone humbuckers. They're awesome. The existing pots should work just fine.
