I have a Stobo Flip, a Strobo Clip, and a Stomp Classic. I think I may be a little anal about being in tune. :p

I've got a blue Strobo-Stomp (V1?) that I got two years ago on the TDPRI Classifieds. While it's not on my pedalboard, it's my go-to tuner for set ups and the like. I want one of the clip-on tuners.

Got a clip on strobe which the clip broke on. Looking at a blue Peterson Strobostomp. Opinions?

Battery lasts a long time. Had mine since July, use it daily and I've charged once, back in October.

I have it for the iPad and the Stroboflip.

How are you getting signal into the ios systems, and are you finding them very accurate?

    Thanks?

The first tuner I bought was a Sonic Research pedal 5-6 years ago. A couple of years ago, I bought an iPhone strobe tuner, then another for iPad. I also had a Peterson clip-on tuner. I was fairly happy with the Peterson tuners, but I had a little trouble getting the "wheels" to stop turning. Whenever I tuned from bottom to top, I went through them again, and saw that the wheels. For kicks, I brought out the old Sonic Research tuner. Well, it quite demonstrably and consistently was better. Not sure what my next move is.

Any guitar worth playing is worth playing in tune. I bought a used VS-1 virtual strobe and use it as my fine tuning and intonating (set-ups) tuner. I appreciate the accuracy and am strangely comforted by the fact that perfection is nearly unattainable... but worth chasing.

Larry, have you tried a Stroboflip?

I think plugging into a device that has a quartz, or some other true oscillator as a comparator makes a big difference in the jumpiness.

Now that I read your above comment, I recall trying the iStrobosoft app on the iPad and IIRC, found as did you, that it is hard to get it stopped.

If you get the guitar dead on pitch, the Peterson box freezes dead.

well said, so very well said!

Thought you might like to see the genesis of the Peterson Strobe...Conn built these way back, as well as a couple smaller models, both tube and solid state. Peterson bought Conn's electronic division a while back. My "Stroboconn" that I pictured is all tube...circa '58 or so. To watch a piano tuner that knows his stuff with this gear is amazing. The overtones and ghost tones picked up by this machine can be used by those in the know to perfectly temper any complex instrument. This, although overkill, works great for any guitar or similar stringed instrument for tuning, but comes into it's own when intonating any instrument...especially tempered tunings. These as a bonus came with the Astatic JT-3 mic, a mainstay with the harp players.

Former StroboStomp I user - current StroboStomp II user.

Gen. 2 is way better. Less battery suck (really wondering about that "true bypass" claim), and more presets, including pedal steel.

I bought a Stroboflip three years ago because I needed something better for intonating my builds. It's a great tuner. I've never tried any of the other settings, but I'm getting curious about the sweetened tunings.

    thank you for the memories!
I had the solid state one about the size of a Pignose.

    It is very much missed.

Do you use your rig to tune pianos?

Try it my strobin' brother, it takes but a press of a button to toggle;)

Me thinks thee will dig it!
