What strings do you guys use for your Teles? What gauge? Why do you like them? I've been using Gear Supply Co 10's for a couple years now.

I've always used Ernie Ball strings and recently gone back to 10s after years of playing 11s. This is due to the onset of pain in my joints which I hope is not the start of arthritis. Painful fingers crossed.

Just strings....I get a dozen of each 10s. each guage comes in a long packet of 12...... Save about 1/2 vs the six pack you buy in stores.

    Popular thread topic, eh?

    I've been using D'Addario EXL110 (10-46), or 10-52, or occasionally 9.5-44. Decent, and cheap.

A few months ago I was trying new strings for my 175, and after 10 weeks with DR Hi-Beam 11-50 on both the big archtop, and the 335, I've ordered quantity and gauges to go on all my guitars. Really nice strings. Bright, long lasting. They cost about double ($6), but for now they're worth it.

I've gone through loads of string brands and have settled on Curt Mangan 10s for my my teles. Sound great and last a long time.

NYXL only after I run out of bulk pack strings most likely.

All over the map over the years. I used 10's initially on my Tele, and went to 9-42's for about a year and a half (I've only had my Tele for 2 and a half) - usually D'Addario or Fender Bullets.

I tried a set of Ernie Ball 10-46 recently. This is the first time I've used Balls since the 90's. Love 'em, and loving the 10s again. They are cheap too.

My Strat was running 11's for 20 years, and I swiched back to 10s on that as well. It has D'Addarios on it now, but the next set will be Ernie Balls.

So what does that mean for you? Nothin' probably, but that's my story.

Guys, what's the big deal about NYXLs? Why do you like them over say, the EXLs?

You have to search for guage and wound and unwound but it's pretty easy......"

Cool! Even after knowing what to look for, it took me five minutes to find the BULK link on the home page.

Any idea who the manufacturer is?

    Ernie Ball slinkys

10's on my strat, 9's on everything else. I like the ease of playability with a great neck and 9's tuned E flat, control is key though.

D'Addario-----Chromes for my jazz boxes, XLs for my Teles, 80/20 Bronze for acoustics. I always come back to them no matter what else I try. Guages do vary though. Teles are now running, 12,14,18,30,42,52.
