I've bought a really nice body from Guitarfetish, swamp ash, nice brown sunburst. I really hate to cover up the grain on this thing, so I’ve bought some clear stick-on pickguard material. I know this is common on acoustic guitars, but does anyone have any experience with stick-on pickguards on an electric? Should be fine, I think. It’s going on poly so I don’t anticipate any problems.

    Comments pro or con?

It should be fine as far as the finish is concerned. Polyurethane is pretty bulletproof to most adhesives and other substances. It'll definitely be an interesting look, do you mind posting a picture after it's done?
