First time buying wood online for guitar tops, has anybody had experience with StewMac's curly maple tops? Are there better places I can get good flame?

I've bought one maple top from Stew-Mac many years ago, and although it was gorgeous... it was way overpriced.

Finewoods - just like the name. I've also bought from him a couple of times.

Fraser Valley Woods is top notch, I have gotten some excellent deals from them and great service.

Also, if you're not going to do a thinline, a veneer is a much cheaper way to achieve exactly the same thing.

The kind of logs that are sliced into veneer are usually the best figure available because they can make much more money.

Now I know why his prices have been going up. He's only an hour away from me which is nice.
