    Hey All,
I just bought a gorgeous Squier CV50s BSB. After reading all the posts about it, one popped up at a store and I "had no choice to buy it!" I am in love with it (along with my American Standard Strat). HOWEVER - I found a weird anomaly in the build, just under the bridge. It looks like there's a tiny gap in the wood, showing the cavity, which should be covered by the bridge plate. I don't like how this looks, but I'm more concerned about the sound impact. Any thoughts? Should I return it and wait for a new shipment? I'll include pictures. The CLOSE UPS show the issue. Thanks all. My heart hurts. :(

Thats on almost all Fenders with the vintage bridge.

Its on the 52ri 50's-60's MIM Classics and many more.

Its been discussed hundreds of times do a search for butt crack and you will see alot of threads.

That's normal mate. Here's the same thing on a Custom Shop Nocaster - just so you know it isn't just the inexpensive models that have this.

Thanks so much, guys. I can actually sleep tonight. Good to see my Fender obsession/sickness is as healthy as ever. Thanks again. T

When these were first made they came with the ashtray cover which hides this gap.

I played a 2012 model at Sam Ash today (Butterscotch Blonde) and it had the gap.

yep. we call it "butt crack" around here. the only production tele that doesn't have it is the 2000 and later nocaster reissue.

The only thing wrong with your guitar is it isn't an Esquire!
