I was in Savannah a few years back and a band had a sign up at stage. $50 brown eyed girl $25 for mustang Sally.. etc.funny thing is they did it as a joke but it became a money maker for them !!?

Anyway. I would say I dislike mustang Sally as top of my list .

Every song to me is fun right now because everything is new! I have only been playing for 9 months despite my serious passion for guitar building and guitar history. I am sure as I become more skilled I will find something to hate.....

That's funny. As soon as I saw the title of the thread I thought, Brown Eyed Girl. Why is that? I really like Van Morrison. I guess it's because when I played for a couple of years with a top 40 cover band that did a lot of conventions, clubs, weddings, etc. I must have played that thing 1,000 times at least. And yeah, Mustang Sally is right up there too along with You Look Wonderful Tonight. But maybe the top of the list was in that same band doing I've Had the Time of My Life. Anything for a buck, right?

^^^^ That really is a great attitude, and I hope you can keep it. Learning anything is good!

There are a LOT of them.
But, for each song I say I dislike, there will be several members taking me to task for having a Contrary point-of- view.

I hate playing anything by Neil Diamond. I don't hate Neil Diamond, I just find his chord changes and timing strange and alien for some reason.

I can sing along to his songs fine, but playing them lowers my IQ by 30 points.

    Certain uncertainty
One time our band was told that our live radio show would have to be mostly covers, we had no idea until we were all set up. So we did a couple that we knew.

Now it is any song that I HAVE to do for a reason I don't think is a very good one.

I hate hearing Mustang Sally being murdered which is usually what happens.

It's a great song if it's played well.

    I don't like playing anything by R.E.M.

"Old Time Rock And Roll"...and... If I hear "Margaritaville" one more time...

What's even more interesting, Jimmy Buffet covered "Brown-Eyed Girl"...?

There was a point that, if your band didn't do "Louie Louie", or "Wipeout", you didn't get the gig.

Our p+w band has a new song, titled ascend. I greatly dislike it. It has a move from a natural to f natural. It doesnt even sound like a song.

Really? I would think Pretty Persuasion or South Central Rain are early gems lost among the later hugeness that that band became from Losing My Religion and everything from that point on.

Now I like "Brown eyed girl" because I have fun when people dance and that one always packs the floor. I sing it well and I also really like brown eyed women! Lol.

I hate playing black crows "jealous again" so I cut it. Can't sing it very well anymore. Really hate "Old time R&R". Yuck. That one is gone now too.
