My wife are sitting here waiting for a Led Zep tribute band to start and we are suffering through one of these right now, and, we thought we would subject you to this misery. Its a song that we realized has WAY TOO MANY VERSES and goes on FOREVER! Its “ I’m Your Captain” by Grand Funk Railroad.
One that needs to is Aja by Steely Dan.And, we are rattling off others.
So, subject us to one. It either has to have way too many words or otherwise drag on forever..or, its long, and needs to be.. Go!

A Horse With No Name. I'm sure I will think of more, but I can't stand that song.

Ah, good one! So every song is one we agree is def on the list! Keep’em coming! Add the ones that are long that are ok! Like: “Teenage Wasteland” by The Who.

The only ones that are long and need to be are as follows:

    Bohemian Rhapsody

    Inna Gadda da vida

The theme song to Lamb Chops(because of necessity, not because it's not annoying as possible)

Everyone else should use The Letter by the Boxtops as a template: say what you want in under 2 minutes or it wasn't worth saying

    ;)

    If we are listing though;

I feel every Nickleback song, and thier career as well, is far longer than anyone ever asked for.

Several KISS songs would be better ending on a staccato single chord than trailing off I to a fade.

Agreed, some songs are long because they have a longer story to tell or idea to convey. One that too long is “The Wreck Of The Edmund Fitzgerald”. The frickin’ wreck didn’t take as long to sink as our hopes that the song would end. There must be 137 verses to that song. One that is as long as it needs to be is “Round About” by Yes. Just needs to say alot musically.

This is the song that doesn't end.
It just goes on and on, my friend.
Some people started singing it not knowing what it was,
And they'll continue singing it forever just because
This is the song that doesn't end...

I've almost come to blows with a very good friend over whether Layla drags on too long.

    It does.

I have a friend that jumps on the piano & plays that. The first few seconds are ok, just because it's nice to hear music in the house. But in & of itself, that piano part is too long. Don't really care for the song either.

ooh ooh, Chrissy just came up with a good one. “Magic Carpet Ride” by The Guess Who. Starts off catchy, as if it were going to lead to a 60’s pop song, then gets a ‘hit of bad acid’ and launches into the worse 97 1/2 minutes of the worst organ solo followed by the worst guitar trip, and I think whale calls (or gastointestinal calls) ever...:(
