Well sir, I have given a few guitars away. However if I had a Merle Haggard Tuff Dog, I'd most likely just keep it for myself!:D

    I "could" care less.

They finally gave up on irregardless and put it in the dictionary, so maybe they will on this one too.

Being a foreirgner and haven’t had proper English lessons for more than twenty years now, it’s easy to pick up wrong impressions and phrases that are currently popular. I get my daily dosage of English mostly from TDPRI, and in lesser way from TV. Here in Finland we don’t dub English or American English movies or series, but since I don’t watch TV virtually at all, I blame you, the TDPRI community, who misleads us ignorants :D

Perhaps I should subscribe The Times or just buy Oxford English Dictionary?

(Please don’t take this one too seriously)

Unfortunately, a lot of people simply don't have the quality of education to know about such things. So, they get along as best they can. It's just the nature of a large society, as we live in.

I will not take language advice from anyone who uses the phrase ‘I could care less’.

Me , myself and I. Grammar has always been fascinating.

I've always wondered, is there any sense in the old song: "Is You is, or is You ain't my baby..." Tell me, please? What's that supposed to mean?

One famous finnish sportsman used to throw phrases around and they were almost always "wrong". Well, that was funny and it kinda sticked up to streettalk. He for example meant to say "It's up to You", but he said "It's up Yours" - and now we use it just like that. No harm done.

Language is a living thing. I think, I mean me, myself - it's the younger people (<30) who twists it and the older guys (us) who (propably) don't like it?

LOL. This is a big pet peeve of mine. Yeah, I know, I need a life. But it drives me nuts.

Here's another one I hear a LOT: "Her and I went shopping". Applying your rule that's like saying "Her went shopping". Okay, maybe you talk to your dog like that when no one is around :D, but....no.

You just named my two biggest annoyances, ok, not the biggest.
An uncle that I spent several years with was an educated man and he was my grammar cop.
I got in a habit before I lived with him of saying irregardless, and I could care less.
Every time I used the word irregardless, he would tell me that there’s no such word.
When I would say “ I could care less” he would always tell me, if you could care less, then you must care some.
If you couldn’t care less then you don’t care at all.
Now some dictionaries have the word irregardless as a non standard word. But at least it made its way into many dictionaries. So now if I hear someone use the word, I can’t say irregardless is not in the dictionary, trying to explain that it’s non standard is a waste of time.

Too bad they couldn't all be highly educated guitar players like Stevie Ray Vaughan, and Tommy Emmanuel.

Devolve or evolve is a matter of opinion. I'm sure there were people who were outraged when 'thee' and 'thou' dropped out of common usage. Chaucer would probably think English declined centuries ago.

Language changes over time. All those dictionaries and style guides describe language and do not define it.
