Are people just too stupid to know when to use "me" and "I"? Or do they think it makes them sound smarter?

I think "me or "I" would be proper grammar.

    I feel your pain.
There are many words and phrases that are wrong but getting more usage. It shouldn't bother me but it does.
"Price point" instead of just "price " or "cost".
"As per usual ". The "per" is unnecessary.
    "Concept" instead of "idea"

And don't get me started on the misuse of "ironic" and "literally".

Price point is a term used in the retail business to bring a product in at a price that is competitive to similar products. An idea is something that is thought up by an individual. A concept normally refers to a procedure involving many people.

I "literally" have a badge (given to me by a fellow teacher) as a "Grammar Police" officer, which includes the phrase "To Correct and Serve". I mentioned here before, I never in my life saw more spelling and grammar errors until I began teaching in public schools....by the teachers themselves. The only thing I regret with the Grammar Police badge was that it didn't include the right to shoot on sight when I witnessed grievous errors.
The simple solution to the "I or Me" question is to remove the other "party" from the statement. So, if you want to say, "TD gave the guitar to him and I" or "TD gave the guitar to him and me"....remove the "him"......would you say, "TD gave the guitar to I" ? No, of course not..... or would you say' "TD gave the guitar to me"? This, of course, depends on whether TD is likely to give ANYONE a guitar.....but you get my meaning, right? ;)

Big dang difference between price and cost.
I was a business major so maybe it doesn't count in general conversation.

Big dang difference is an understatement. Cost meaning what it cost to get that product to the shelf. Price meaning the retail of that product. Retail minus cost is your profit.

Last year one of my daughters teachers sent home a notice, full of errors in punctuation, grammar and spelling. I sent it back, signed as requested, but with errors crossed out and corrections in place.

We settled in Arlington, instead of Fort Worth because of the schools. I don't think we were properly informed. The Arlington school system doesn't appear to be what we were led to believe it was supposed to be.

Every day on the train the conductor say "on behalf of myself and the rest of the crew, I want to wish you a good afternoon..." It drives me nuts.

Language as a whole, along with grammar and literacy all seem to be in a process of devolving. I don't ever want to be a snob about it, but well spoken English can't be quite lovely. I'd hate to see that disappear, but it seems to have been in decline for many decades. Somehow the internet seems to create a concentration of ignorance, which has hastened the decline of language (and literacy, strangely)

I think people feel uncomfortable saying "'me" because it seems too egotistical, or something...look at ME...it's all about ME....
AFAIK, the proper way to use "myself" is if you've already mentioned yourself in the sentence...or maybe just the idea...I don't fully remember.
So, this would be correct...I think:
"I would like you to come and be part of the team consisting of Bob, Dave and myself."

Well, as per usual, you have managed to give me the concept the that there really isn't a price point for the improper usage of "many words and phrases that are wrong". That is literally an ironic concept. As for myself, I really don't give a flying fornication.

Wait... you're saying something ELSE is wrong with the world today? That's the THIRD thing so far since I woke up. Well, *blank* myself! If that's your biggest issue of the day, you live a very sequestered life.

I was driving and listening to radio show when a feller called in and said, repeatedly, "escape goat". I nearly swerved off the road!

Ha. I'd be bounced out of here for life if I even got near my biggest issues.
