Don't forget, Mexico and Canada are in America!

This is all so confusing, Squier, PRS, Fender, SE, American, Chinese, confirmation bias says we can't trust our own senses, Cort makes Squier which is Fender which is copied by PRS which also makes the SE in a foreign factory (that also makes Squiers?).

Amazon Wal Mart and Sony own 2/3 of everything.

    So maybe PRS is Fender.

My first impression is that... I’d probably just quit playing first. I do have better things to do.

well technically they're in north america, since that's a continent. the superpower is the U.S.A, United States of America. I don't know if it's technically correct or not to refer to both canada and brazil as being american countries, since one is in north america and one is in south america, but it'd make sense because you'd think that if there is a south something and a north something, there is a greater something of which they are a part, that something would be 'america'. in this case, north america and south america certainly appear to be separate continents, although who knows since europe is a continent and the distinction between asia and europe seems to be pretty much arbitrary. if they're separate continents, then the fault lies in a failure to prefix, 'mexico and canada are in north america'. but a strong case may be made that brazil, mexico, the USA, and canada, are all in america.

Were you upset every other time PRS released a model that looked like this in the last 30 years? Or just this time?

This is semantics, and it's ridiculous. Nobody on the planet refers to any other country on the American continents as "America".

Anywhere in the world, if you refer to "America" or "Americans" nobody is going to think you are talking about Mexico, Brazil, or Canada.

Don't forget Nicaragua and Paraguay. Apparently, there's a strong case to be made for saying that they're part of America. :D:lol:

What if you say "Latin America"?

Nobody assumes when you say Latin America that you're referring to a part of the US where people speak Latin. Just throwing another wrench in the works.

But it's a fact, Latin America is a thing, and it's not part of the US.

Come to think of it, neither is Central America...

Or is the US the only country that uses these terms? That's a serious question, Ive never checked. And never thought about it until now.

OK, I'll go with Paraguay, just because I like saying Paraguay.

    Paraguay...

No, it's not just the US. Latin America and Central America are commonly used throughout the English-speaking world. As are Middle East, Southeast Asia, and so on.

I have a feeling the rest of the world just says South America.

It is pretty well established that the country of The United States Of America is referred to in the shortened vernacular "America" all over the world, and no other country is. It is common practice, and common knowledge.

Why are we even discussing it?

Those of us who know the difference don't simply say South America. We say "cheap holiday spots."

When I'm in Europe, nobody says America. They refer to people from the United States as "Americans", and objects or customs from here as "American", but they refer to the country as the US, United States, USA, etc. I've never heard anyone call it America over there.

And for clarity, I'm not arguing. Just sharing experience. This discussion is making me think of all kinds of things I've never thought of before.
