I remember these from the Tele book, they had extra routs to reduce weight, but became known as smuggler's teles because of all the extra room for your favorite contraband. I saw THIS ONE on eBay recently, guy wanted $1599.00 for it, it didn't sell. Now if he loaded up those cavities with something, he might have a shot :D

I saw that too. Way too pricy without any cool contraband! You could build a little flap for a derringer or something cool that you could access fairly easily. I watch too much tv...

Relisted and currently at $480 with 14 bids. A long way from $1599 but somebody's interested! Curious to see what the final bid is...

I've always wondered whether something like that affects the structural integrity of the guitar. How much of the body could you carve away like that before the string pull becomes too great and the guitar folds in on itself? Has anyone ever experimented with that?
