This isn't lame acting. I think these kids did exactly what they were asked to do. They are excellent.

Apparently this commercial is a few years old but I seen it for the first time a few days ago and thought it was great. Just goofy, weird, gross, slightly uncomfortable and charming. I still don't eat Skittles though and ain't gonna start now.

When I first saw the ad on tv, I thought the chick character was a bloke on the turn!

I think you guys are missing the big picture here. Skittles Pox would be a good thing to have. You would never have to buy food again, just eat the Skittles Pox. They just keep coming back, and you just keep eating them. Ummmm, might die of diabetes but it would probably take a long time.

You're are absolutely correct. Kurt Cobain wrote some lyrics that always stuck with me.

"All the kids will eat it up
    If it's packaged properly.
    Steal a sound and imitate
    Keep the format equally.
All I know is just the facts
    How the world is nowadays.
An idea is what we lack
    But it doesn't matter anyway."

In case you truly have never had skittles, vaguely like m&m's in shape, but otherwise, no. They are a chewy, fruit flavored candy

I liked it a lot better when commercials were honest, and you could count on them steering you in the right direction on a product.

weird commercials are the rage these days. I don't understand how in the world they figure they translate to dollars though. Sometimes I think they just need to use the money so they can keep the budget, kinda like road construction when it's needless "Well, if we don't repave this stretch, we won't use up the money, and then they won't budget for it next year..."

...but that Skittles ad isn't even weird, it's just dorkily sorta charming.
This commercial's weird. And , I love it, but, it's not made me frequent BK:

Jeremy Irons and Emma Thompson would have done wonderfully.

Agree wholeheartedly. The long version negates the comedic timing.

It translates to dollars if you remember it. So, the weirder, the more memorable, the more dollars. I disagree, but that's because I dislike nearly all advertising. Especially advertising that, when deconstructed, says, "People who use this product are jerks or idiots or both."

If you get Skittles Pox as a youth, will you get Skingles later on?

And what is wrong with jelly beans?

I really like the black liquorice ones.

Desipite the effect they have on one's teeth.

I generally don't mind advertising but there has never been an ad that caused me to spend money on that product...period.

I guess you must be right. I'm not sure how they were able to convince anyone of that correlation, but it seems that they were...

They did a bunch of studies. Figured out that people who knew what they wanted already weren't going to be swayed by advertising. Thus, the money is in the undecideds. And more studies showed that if you were given a choice between something you recognized and something you didn't, you'd buy the one you did recognize.

What they didn't count on was what happens when you remember something negatively. Or maybe I'm the only one who does that.

I don't care what anyone else says. I liked New Coke.
