Any idea what this is?
^^^ Sister Rosetta's Demon Exorciser!
Outstanding! I'm really happy this all came about because someone was so enamored of Sister Rosetta and wanted to pay her tribute. Thanks for all the investigative work!
Cool story! This is like getting the end of a Scooby-Do episode. Very satisfying.
"And no one would have known, either - if it weren't for those meddling kids!"
Yeah, do you didn't even get to entertain theories about the grassy knoll gunman, Mr. Peanut, the Illuminati, the Bilderbergers, chemtrails, or Desi Arnez.
Thanks for getting to the bottom of this. I guess the one thing I still don’t get is why didn’t they make the Evans logo nice and crisp and clear and legible if this was done recently?
That is still a mystery to me.
I don't know and didn't think to ask him that very question. If I had my guess, I'd say it would be to keep from getting sued just in case. But that would only be a guess.
Torren61, thank you!! You should get an award for your investigation, along with Mr. Buffington for his passion. I might have to get my hands on "Shout, Sister, Shout!" and learn more; I didn't know about that book. We know Sister Rosetta as a gospel performer, but check some early films featuring her with small orchestras, suggestive lyrics and even racier dancers! That said, I love the gospel-themed stuff more, where her heart really was.
You spelled "." wrong.
Yeah, it sounds like it wasn’t really done to promote the amps directly. More just a personal labour of love thing. I’m guessing you pretty much have it. Like if he could have made it happen, he would have.
tele sitting on a chair watchin the Sg
That made me smile ^^^
It absolutely is her guitar cable, it’s hanging right there in mid air you can barely see it against the ground being the same color but the loop is direct to her guitar

I don’t mean this to be disrespectful, as I was listening to Sister Rosetta when most of you were taping Twisted Sister posters to your bedroom walls, and I know tone is subjective , and I know a proper mic for the amp was nowhere near , but never has a Les Paul/SG Custom into an AC30 sounded so puny/thin/awful.
As the man says it was done as a background/wallpaper image on a website which would also have included many detailed pictures of the Evans products. It wasn’t the centrepiece of a marketing campaign for a particular amp. Just a bit of fun arising from his love of Rosetta Tharpe and, perhaps, because a picture of a Vox amp in the middle of the Evans website would just look wrong.
Torren61 - Thanks for your effort and for a terrific story. Sister Rosetta is certainly worth the effort and it's a pleasure to hear that he has shared pictures and stories.
