Whats a good and cheap signal generator thats not a Iphone app to use with ocilloscope
What are your requirements, other than cheap?
What's the problem with an app?
I dont want my $1000 iphone hooked to a 50`s or 60`s tube amp for testing. It scares me for some reason and it may be perfectly safe. I have never used one
Feeltech makes an ok and fairly cheap sign gen with 2 discreet outputs.
I understand not wanting to connect an expensive phone/tablet to a potentially ailing piece of eqiuipment.
How about an old mp3 player, CD player with recordings at 100, 440 and 1kHz?
You're right to be wary. I blew an output on a mixer doing the same thing.... Turns out the Chasiss on that 40's Philco was HOT and not ground like you would assume!
I found one of these in a vacant lot in Manhattan next to the Hudson River...
Had a nice 5Y3GT rectifier in it.
I would say stick with solid state when it comes to audio signal generators...
I have a wonderful Leader LAG-26 that I really dig.
Get a $20 Android. There's lots of other great apps too.
Merlin's design is worth a look.
Search E-bay for signal generator or function generator. Lots to be found, and you can select what suits your purpose.
the scarier part is your assumption. be safe!
