Yeah I'm going to leave it as is. I like things to be a little different. It actually had a new replacement knob on it when I picked it up from the luthier and I pulled it off and stuck that one on.

Interesting. Is that Korina, or just natural Mahogany with no stain? It's just different enough to be cool.

    Long-term loan.

    1970 or 1971 - I don't know . I wasn't angling for this one.

He (professional musician buddy of mine) starts out by saying his goal is to play no electric guitar in all of 2017.

Knowing that he has a '66 ES-335 (with THE best humbuckers I've ever heard) that I was lent before, I said "Well you better temporarily get rid of them so you won't be tempted.

So - he says "take my SG and play it".

    Yes sir.

I had a '69 SG Special (Townshend type) for a couple years that I really liked.

This one is not as great as that one but it is still a very nice guitar.

Yeah, it's actually just straight mahogany with I'm assuming no stain, or at least very little. Gibson calls it "Worn Natural"....It really caught my eye as somewhat unique....once I played it I had to have it :)

Here's my SG FUTURA. Nice guitar. I really like it I really don't like the auto tuning. Thinking of removing it and putting standard tuners on. It has a 15 db boost & both pickups are splitable. Believe it or not this thing can twang.

My favorite SG color. So mine is black but the price was too good to pass up

Is this the limited edition with the '57 Classic pickups?

How do you like it? I only have first-hand experience with the 490/498 series, but from everything I've heard online I think I prefer the sound of the 57s, and they're not easy to find in an SG.

That's the reason I got it. I couldn't find the 57's in another SG. Especially not for $800. I'm gonna put some pickup covers on it because I don't care for the exposed pickup look. I don't much care for the white on red color scheme either. I changed the gold knobs out for some black ones, I'm gonna change the mounting rings out for some black ones too. Other than that, she plays like a dream. I love it.

I've since sold the Pro and the 74/75 Standard but still have the 62 R/I and SG Standard VOS with Maestro

2013 60s Tribute with Burstbuckers. Replaced the truss rod cover and speed knobs. Heck of a guitar.

Did you find a pickguard that fit, or did you have to modify one?
