I'm going to be building another partscaster this summer, and I'm thinking on using/making a black SS Tele body. I'm going with a rosewood-board neck on this one, as I don't have a rosewood-board Tele yet. I'd love to see some such Teles from any of you fine folks out there who has one.

I'll start us off with some pics of a Nash Tele I pulled from the web.

    Cheers!

I've got a Warmoth neck on the way--rosewood board, 7.25" radius Fatback. I may shape it some myself. All traditional (vintage-style) Tele hardware with Glendale saddles and Fender Pure Vintage 64 pickups. The only non-traditional thing is an electrosocket jack.

At this point, I'm planning on building the body and painting it myself. Don't know yet whether I'll do binding or not. But I do like the ivoroid binding.

    Alas, no longer.
I had a black MIA Fender 1962 Tele Custom, and a black Fender CS 1960 Strat with matching headstock.

    Of eleven Teles only two have rosewood boards. this is the black one;

    upload_2019-5-24_0-12-7.jpeg

I bought this 80's MIJ toploader a couple of years before the Wilko Johnson signature model came out. I added a red scratchplate and a set of Tonerider Vintage Plus pickups. Not sure if it would have originally had a rosewood neck, as the previous owner has replaced it with one or unknown origin.

Here's a guitar I messed with for a while before selling. A Wilko signature Tele.

I tried on a few looks.

red - "the original" in this case....

Is that the same Tele as in post 8 above?

Also: didn't you have another one that looked like this?

The secret is very dark rosewood. Anything else lighter looks a bit cheap and off.

    If in doubt, ebonize.

My first decent electric was exactly what you’re talking about prof. 1990 American Std Tele. Black, white guard. Rosewood. Ordered from AMS catalog. I’d only been playing a year and a half maybe. Certainly didn’t deserve it. Let’s say I grew into it.

    Wish I still had it.

So, yeah, that look will always hold a special place in my heart.

i destroyed my buddy's american tele (black w rosewood board and snakeskin pickguard). i tried using his guitar as a template and my router slipped so many times it was toast. so now i'm trying to build him a special walnut tele to help stop his crying

The Tele in post 8 was my attempt to create the guitar in post 9 a couple of years before it became commercially available, and on the cheap. I'm happy with the way it sounds and plays, and from a distance it looks the business.

Fantastic! I didn't know Squier had such a model.

Really, really nice. I'm thinking that's what mine will look like, minus the stickers.

Here's my '86 American Standard Telecaster. It doesn't get out of the case much, still has the plastic on the pick guard.
