Dr Z Maz 38 Senior NR 2x12 combo.
Still jealous of this. Haha
But my Excelsior gets me by...
Haven't seen one of these in this thread, so here's mine.
Blackheart Little Giant
I am a tube amp builder and pretty much build what I need but I can't refuse a great deal on an amp. Here are two production amps that I picked up that sound great;
Mesa Boogie Rocket 440 4-10 cab $200.00
1974 Fender Pro Reverb Head $20 in parts, put it all back together and modded it to AA165 Blackface specs and also built a back-plate for it.
It's got snake skin tolex, I call it my Snake Head Pro
Showing my '68 Gretsch Pro Bass, '68 Ampeg Gv22, 81-ish Ampeg V3, '63 Univox U45b, 65 Univox U75 and 69 Univox U1000 system. Tried but couldn't include my 67 Bandmaster and Bassman and a current production Supro 1624
My Bassbreaker 45 and Blues Deluxe amps. Paired together this is tone-heaven, at least for me
Here's mine that I run with a split mono signal. 65 twin and 1987x reissues through a 1960tv style and oversized 2x12 cab both my Sourmash.
My latest - salvaged 73 Vibro Champ chassis and transformers, rebuilt and then housed in a 1x10 cabinet with a WGS Vet 10, Sylvania 6v6, and RCA 12ax7 in V1.
That sir... is all you need.
<---- Last tech said it was a 67 transition amp. Silver face but still has the black face circuit. I have had since about 76-77 or so. Great amp, for bigger gigs I use it as a head and run it through a 4X10 cabinet.
I had a Bass player truly get mad at me for bringing this amp to a gig and powering my 1-12 cab with it. He thought it was degrading to be seen with it, I guess. I always thought it was cool and has the tweed deluxe type circuit. Different strokes for different folks, I guess!
Really? Your bass player needs to relax.
Amazing. My band mate has an excelsior, but it's in brown. Never liked the look of it one bit, but in Seafoam Green, it looks fantastic! Great sound out of them too, even if I have to turn down my Hot Rod Deluxe constantly to give him a break
Thanks! I mean, of course it's not all I need... I need a 335... And a junior... Maybe another Les Paul or tele... Plus I still want a deluxe reverb...
I broke out the Tweaker 15 this morning. I recently put a sweet ANOS Raytheon black plate 12AX7 in V1 and Raytheon brown based 6V6GT's in the power section. Cranked it and loaded it down with a Mass100 and ran the line out through a small rack pushing a pair of 212 cabs (Quadraverb > MosValve power amp).
You're right. You do need a Strat, AC30, and at least 1 Suhr.
DIY tweed modded VibroChamp clone
In all its glory...
1987x 50w Plexi reissue (1996), on Lopo vintage 2x12 cab with an Eminence private jack and WGS green beret. I put a Lar/Mar PPIMV in it because I didn't want to knock birds out of the sky; with the master vol, it sounds amazing.
Also have Tweed blues jr that I've modded for great cleans, and a tiny blackstar 1w amp for late night noodling. I believe the plexi and the blackstar are secret friends and talk about me when I leave the room.
1995 Custom Vibrolux Reverb, 2002 Deluxe Reverb, mid 70's Princeton Reverb and mid 70's Bronco.
