Woke up saturday morning (early as usual) and we determined that we were in the mood for oysters! and we missed hearing the great Richie Begin... so we hopped in the car, grabbed the pooches and headed down to morro bay to Dockside II for some oysters... then a nice easy drive up 1 through Big Sur with a little stop at the Sea Harvest in Carmel and then home... First day off in a couple of months... too much snow to go to cabin and open for summer... so, today, fixing fences in the rain... but loving it (and home for the day after starting early!) oh YEAH, check out the guy who actually put MAN RIG on his license plate! ha ha! gotta love it!

Oh and we stopped to see the elephant seals too...

Now that's living. You have to enjoy yourself every chance you get. Good food, and good surroundings. Your dogs are awesome

I really need to make a trip back to California this summer. I love the mountains, but there's just something about the ocean that's a part of me. And then there's seafood!

Thanks for sharing the adventures, GB!

the drive to Carmel from Cambria can't be beat... there was TONS of traffic yesterday, but it was still fun and nice... and, you know, kind of compelling that SO MANY people were out hiking and having fun... YAY.

I know you actually appreciate all of it - that always comes across. Nothing better than being waterside except for eating by the water !

Sounds like a perfect day, my friend. I've never really been west of the Rockies - need to fix that.

One of my favorite memories is going to Ocean City in the winter! You could get a great hotel room for 18.00 and be alone on the beach (cold AF for sure) but awesome long runs and then we'd go to some restaurant get crab cakes, oysters, steamers... TONS of cold beer and sit by a fire in the massive absence of tons of people and really enjoy it....

We have had rain all day here today... and everyone knew we were gonna, so everybody went out yesterday... but, we got to dockside early (11:45) and the rush was just coming as we left...

I want to come east again and drive from Nags Head up to Maine and show my wife all my 'spots'

Hit the woodman's in Mass and the great pubs in Portland Maine... get some lake trout in Balmer! do the whole thing...

We make a run up the coast once a year and just eat oysters from Bolinas to Crescent City and it is amazing fun (okay we have chowder too)

we just get this one life... I say do it!

My wife loves the wedge... I believe that is solely bleu cheese.

I haven't been to that area in a VERY long time but it has a special place in my heart. My grandfather kept his boat moored in Morro Bay for a number years. Fond memories of sailing with him in the area, rowing back and forth to town from the mooring for groceries/showers, etc...

Was out that way for the very first time the second week of April. We traveled the same route and partook in mucho seafood. Those Elephant Seals blew me away. I saw the cars in the parking lot and thought "All these dummies think they're gonna just pull up and see a seal? What the.....?". Got out of the car, walked about 30 paces through the stanky air and peeked over the bank. There were hundreds of the things climbing all over each other and honking like a traffic jam. NEVER expected it.

First trip to Cali, we both absolutely loved it.

    That is so cool.

I would trade cattle and cheese for that.

Actually, you guys now produce more milk and cheese than WI does.

You cheesehead (with a beautiful beach) getbent!
