Tonedr, isn’t that third string note for the open tuning D tuned DOWN a half step to an F#...not up to a G#?

So...what’s the worst of it? To err is human, eh? Other than that, thanks for the insight on how this one gets done.
I struggled with this one a few years ago. I love the tune, but I'm stubborn about using alternate tunings. I worked out a way to play it in standard, in the same key, but with a capo on the second fret.
I tried to learn this song a while back in standard tuning but with my effed up left hand it was impossible.
I'm sure I'll be able to do it this way.
Was this originally done in open tuning?
