Most of the rock stars who want to stay alive are into eating food. I've always loved the term "foodie". Its not that adventurous to try new foods and I refuse to take pictures in a restaurant.

I recently did a take on his famous "peanut butter & banana" sandwich (I'm not 100% this is true, it was myth that was spread decades before we had the internet to reference literally everything). Anyhow, white bread, PB, banana, a thin layer of Nutella, and pressed in a panini press. I call it a "Squashed Chocolate Elvis" (a working title).

Except Elvis' was actually FRIED in a skillet with butter.....about 1.000.000 calories per sandwich.
BTW My dad used to make us Peanut Butter and banana sandwiches, just without the frying and butter. Not "low fat", but healthier than what Elvis ate.

Not quite the same but Geddy Lee is supposed to have quite the wine cellar.

And one of the Dictators is also a big wine guy. I think may have gotten into the wine biz after the rockin ended.

    Cheers,
    Geoff

Might be a bit British these:

Paul Young has taken part in two celebrity cooking competitions on TV. His house was once burgaled by Gino DiCampo who is now a well known TV chef.

Alex James of Blur is a cheese maker supplying Waitrose ( posh supermarket) and runs a food festival.

Jazz singer Gregory Porter used to be a chef in Brooklyn.

Several musicians who wrote cookbooks including Boy George, Sheryl Crow ( If it Makes You Healthy - best book title), Ted Nugent and Dolly Parton.

Ian Anderson used to own a fish farm.

When I was a touring sound dude with a folk combo, when we'd meet up with other bands, usually the topic of conversation was good places to eat in cities we were going to be in or just left. Dar Williams wrote a book that was a directory of healthy places to eat around the country. In the pre-internet days, it was real handy.

Somehow food, hugs and folk music doesn't sound as dangerous as drugs, sex and rock 'n' roll.

With chef Eric Ripert, of NYC resto Le Bernardin, 4 stars in the Times, 3 Michelin stars, both as good as it gets, and a temple to seafood.

If you aren’t into rock stars talking about subjects beginning with the letter p and verboten here, I’ll suggest you might want to skip this, even if you like the foodie stuff.

    Cheers,
    Geoff

Enjoy his music now, because he's not going to be around very long in that condition.

I agree with you but most of my friends are not foodie types. They only eat the same foods from their childhood which is pizza, burgers, fries, etc... Most people I know don’t have the enthusiasm of eating and if they do talk about food, it’s the same burgers, pizza, fries and other children’s menu related stuff.

Now more concerned with healthy farming methods … but how about the king of pork chop eating - Frank Sampdero!

Perhaps///I don't even know his name but he did a good version of Over the Rainbow. I've been around a lot of Polynesians, and some of those Samoan's eat like birds and are still huge...genetics. And historically their royalty were held in higher esteem the fatter they were.

I don’t think I’m missing the point or setting up a strawman. I think I’m commenting on John Popper’s hilarious and dubious claim.
