so, i was at my local guitar center today and saw a nice robot les paul special in tv yellow for the LOW PRICE OF $750! the online price at other places is 1700.

i'm not a big fan of the robot electronics, i can tune my own guitar, but that seems like a great price.

anyones opinions? should i grab it?

If you like to play in alot of open tunings or DADGAD get it.

You can also tune it manually if you dont wanna use the motorized tuners.

I play mine all the time I have the 1st Edition Limited Edition one.

    Is the headstock noticeably heavier?

Actually its lighter the motorized tuners are a few grams lighter each than Grovers.

Grovers are 49 grams each Robot tuners are 46.5.

So it ends up its about 1/2 an oz lighter than if it had Grovers.

I have the SG. I like it, but the tuner holes gained big string eating burrs on the two high strings after not too much heavy use. I filed them nice again. Any one else?

If it plays well, and sounds good plugged in, I'd get it at that price for sure. It's too bad I've never seen one locally. I might consider picking one up if I could play it first.

i got it, its real nice and its not neck heavy. plays great as well.

it was supposed to be at 899 they had the price wrong, and i had a coupon so got it for 637! i'd recommend it. though not over a tele of course.

637 is a steal for one of those. That's a good deal for a regular LP special faded.
