A great Lebanese - American too; born right here down my street
RIP Dick Dale
Damn. I saw him play a few times. Thoroughly enjoyed it. Gotta love the surf sound.
Heard about his death this morning.
Didn't he once say, when asked how he wanted to be remembered something like, "as a cool dude that made your ears bleed."
I think he did that.
I think he also once said in an interview that he made the faces he did because playing hurt his fingers.
Travel well Mr. Dale and thanks for the music. Such a tragic story.
Riding the big wave now. RIP Dick dale.
Heartbreaking story I was COMPLETELY unaware of. I bet Jimi and Stevie Ray and Chet are all sitting in awe of the gig tonight in Heaven......
I really didn’t know to much about Dick Dale. From the story that I just read he sounds like he was a warrior and fighter and a good guy. Wish his family condolences and may he finally have some peace.
Had no idea he was that sick all those years! Poor guy was dealing with that since 1965, wow.
Touring at 82 because he HAD to, to pay his co-pays on his health insurance.
Big early inspiration for me.
RIP Mr. Dale. I had no idea about his health issues and his rather sad story. Like another member posted, it must have been some gig up beyond.
