the first-ever rock concert I ever attended was the Lovin' Spoonful in Berkeley CA, maybe 1967 0r so (?) Opening act was the Charlatans.

Was that the visit where the infamous pot bust occurred in San Francisco? I would've loved to have seen a Lovin' Spoonful show.

I sure can't remember all that. Pot busts were common, and I was like 13 years old - the 'news' meant very little in my life.

Seeing the Lovin' Spoonful was great. I loved them, and they were very excellent!
The Charlatans opened the show. They were way cool.

Are you familiar with Spoonful's bust? It really pulled the band apart and led to Zal's departure. I looked it up and it turns out it was in May 1966.

The Charlatans started the whole '60's SF music scene. Mike was a pioneer.

    RIP

Two legendary bands. I would love to have that Charlatans poster triptych.

It’s been on sAle at Wolfgang’s maybe once...

I have read about it some, in the years since that show. I can't really recall the date of the show that I saw... was it before or after that bust? I didn't know or care, as a kid. I just knew that I got to go to a real live show and see the Charlatans, the Syndicate of Sound, and the Lovin' Spoonful at the Greek Theater.

By the time I was 15 every artist I admired had either been busted once or twice, or had died from drug overdose. So all that was just normal to me.

This place has more RIP threads than any place I know. TDPRI seems to kill a lot of people.
