He should be declared a national treasure or at least have a commemorative stamp or better yet put his face on the dollar bill so he is represented in g strings everywhere!!!

I wonder if he ever read any of this own magazines, cover to cover.

The wife gave me three or four old issues from the 70s recently, and yes the pics were wonderful and I remember seeing them all back in the day.,... but I never read much of it.

I started actually reading them this time (um, in addition to enjoying the eye candy of course). They're like time capsules, often hilarious stuff from the early 70s, the advertising is great.. but the articles and especially the humor, are excellent.

I wasn't invited to the mansion. Anyone who was, now is the time to speak up.

There were very few GI spaces (offices, barracks, hootches and bunkers) in Vietnam that didn't have at least one centerfold on display. RIP Hef.

Thing is the articles actually were tremendous... some of the best writers of the last century wrote pieces for that magazine

More than likely the secret is revealed when you realize he was never romantically linked with Rosie O'Donnell even in the National Enquirer.

I was invited but they wouldn't let me in when I showed up in my cargoes. I had prepared for this eventuality by eating seven chili burritos in advance. It was not a pretty sight.

The Hef story of getting the magazine funded, for at least the first issue is great...

he got ahold of the nude pics Marilyn had taken a few years before, for whatever reason she had them taken, all the bios give varying explanations..

anyway, they were apparently too hot for any publication at the time (1952 or something) altho I think maybe they had already been printed on a calendar.

So Hef gets these photos, possibly from the calendar company, and goes to a meeting with some money guys and they ask him, so whaddya got, and he gives them the envelope with Marilyn's pics.

That was enough, I guess they figured if he had the guts to run it, they gave him the cash. The issue sold so well he made enough to print another one... and then another and then another...
