After a long search, I found a 53 without issues that spoke to me. Original frets definitely need to be done so seeking feedback on fret masters. This is a prized piece for me that I'll most likely keep forever so want it done right.

I'm in Chicago but would ship/deliver to someone out of state. Glaser in Nashville and Jim Foote in Torrance have come up a few times.

    Thanks all-

    Or Dan Erlewine.
There's a video of him refretting the Bloomfield Tele where his assistant radius' each fret independently to match the messed up board. Archival work.

Here it is though there's a few of him on this guitar.

Gruhn's could do it, Carter's Vintage Guitars could do it. Maybe Chad Underwood or Danocaster. There are several names that come to mind where it would be expertly completed for a player or collector. Either way, not cheap to get it done right. Glaser and Foote are both expert luthiers who are also capable of delivering.

@Mabley should chime in, he likes Glaser IIRC, and there are certainly plenty of high end shops that could do a beautiful job.
Probably plenty of unknowns could do it just fine too, but it's worth preserving the value with a known name.

I'm in Chicago too, but don't know of anyone personally I would bring a '53 to. Perhaps Phil Jacoby might be worth investigating, he is a FANTASTIC luthier. I would for sure get it refretted by a "marquee" name in guitar repair. Dan Erlwine would be a fine choice! Glaser in Nashville is another stellar choice....

BTW, congrats on acquiring a nice '53!

I presume you want to keep the remaining lacquer and wear on the board?
    We'd love to see pics!

Every time I see Bloomfield's Tele it's like a knife in my heart.

    Ha Ha yeah pretty sad.

But on a more serious note, it's looking better than Mike, just for some perspective...

Wow, stunning guitar. My dream guitar....still not sure whether to realise the dream and buy one though. Been obsessed with blackguard era Tele's for 30 years, in that time I've had every available variation by all the makers known to man....but still feel I need to get the real deal...but do I end the dream? What if they don't live up to my now inflated expectations? Its a big dilemma.
I can recommend Joe Glaser, I've had a Tele that was refretted by him and it was perfect, incredible set up too. When you have a seriously nice old guitar I know the options for craftsmen widens. Guys like Fred Stuart, J.W.Black and Michael Stevens might be interested. These guys love working on old Fender's. Thanks for fuelling the fire ;)
