    Hi,
I just acquired an original Telecaster from 1956 where the body has been stripped of all the lacquer so the bare wood is visible
I would like to have it refinished to have the original look again which would included a very light relic
Can anyone tell me who could do the best job at that ?
In USA of even better in Europe ?
    Thanks
    Eric

Clive Brown in the UK is literally the best in the world. It seems that you can contact him here: dwightguitars@hotmail.com , or at least that worked about a year ago. Good luck!

    Hi there

I've read great things about Clive too on these pages.

I've just had a Tele refinished to resemble an aged 60s appearance (not relic) and done to my specification. There's a thread about it here: http://www.tdpri.com/threads/new-pa...allic-60s-style-tele-details-and-pics.739308/

The guy that did it for me, Rich Rendall, was great to work with - very friendly and keen to ensure he got the details right. His details are in the thread. He is based in Wales, currently still Europe, despite Brexit! He is also cost effective (his wife says he doesn't make any money).

I'm very happy with what he did for me. Quick snap here:

Greg, the G from DNG in Paris is very good, I had several guitars refinished by him, for instance this 67 Telecaster in teal green.

Sorry, If it were me I would leave it the way it is with just a Bakelite black guard, because it's beautiful, old and naturally aged.

Some people are spending hours trying to make their guitars look like this! LOL.

I wouldn't change a thing. Certainly wouldn't relic it. Looks fantastic. Maybe a relic'd neck and bridge/control plate to accentuate the natural aged beauty of the body. At most some surface finish to preserve the wood. What a beauty.

I know that the body looks great as is but I really want to have that original 1950's look and now it is not ...

I agree with you MacFever a blackguard because of its era
and please all vintage parts so it is period correct ( don't forget- only 5 screws for the pickguard).

Yes there were only 5 screws installed
All the other parts are original 1956 including all the hardware, pickups, tuners and even the pickup selector :)
That is also the reason I want the guitar body refinished to look like an original 1956
