Thirty-one mins of Tele heaven with the inimitable Redd Volkaert and his 55 Tele...
Redd is ALWAYS fun to see and hear!
Nice to hear the boys proclaim his playing and his explanations to be precise and economical - yessir, they are!
Makes me wanna try to assemble a rig like Redd has.... except... oh yeah. It'd be wasted money, and I'd still sound like me.
I watched the whole video. I love Redd.
Thanks for sharing.
Thanks I enjoyed that very much.
How can you not like Redd ? I'd call him tastefully tacky
And I mean that in the nicest way !
Well that is 30 minutes I'll never have back!!
That was really cool... And a very fun version of "Home in San Antone" around the 26:30 mark or so....
Had me smiling a few times there! Surprised Redd's Tele didn't catch on fire around the 24:00 mark.
I'd call him Sir until he told me knock it off a few times.
Redd is one of the best things ever to come out of Canada.
Their loss is our gain.
I've had the honor of taking a couple of lessons from Redd. I can feel for those two other guys when Redd nonchalantly calls out the progression of "Home in San Antone" and then expects them to play along, they out of the comfort of three-chord progression world. It's terrifying. I know Gatton was called "The Humbler" but sitting in a chair with my guitar facing Redd, suddenly I was a 13 year old kid again struggling to play "Gloria" and all those hours of Youtube wood shedding and decades of abusing guitars counted for naught. An incredibly gracious man who ignored my obvious flaws and delusions of ever mastering the guitar and was nothing but positive. And he's got a great sense of humor to boot. If you're ever in Austin on a Saturday afternoon check out his Continental Club gig. Since I'm a glutton for punishment I'll probably sign up for another lesson soon. That's a warning Redd.
If *I* took a lesson, it'd be 'show me that C again'
But seriously. He didn't say much about the '55.
Great job Redd ... them other two cats might just as well have stayed home
Blast! Now I want a REDDVERB!!!!!
Couldn't remember where! He's got so many...what a terrible problem to have!
I felt sorry for them and jealous of them at the same time!
Very much so
We need to gather a bunch of us up and do grub and Redd again soon!
Thanks for sharing. I love Redd.
I need to go see Redd one of these days, he is so good and seems like a great guy.
I sat next to the guy on the left on an airplane a few months ago going back to austin from chicago, interesting to see him doing a video with Redd. We didn't talk a ton, but we were both working on our laptops. I was polishing up a PPT deck and he was editing videos of himself playing that same guitar. I remember thinking how much more interesting his job probably is...Well, now I know.
