I wanted to stop by and post the finished production of "Red Rock City", again I truly am thankful for the all the knowledge that is present here on a daily basis. What a great place to find a hobby that I love so much! I'll post some better photo's when I get the lights working in Wisconsin.

    USA Custom's Neck
    Rosewood over Flame maple
    Staggered Tuners (no tree)
    7.25 to 9.50 radius

Body is a CNC machined/Hand finished hybrid like my other guitar posted a few month back.

Swamp Ash with a flame maple top
    Stainless Bridge with Brass Saddles
All the hardware is plated in nickel down to the screws.

Lindy Fralin Custom pickups. 4 way switch (which I can live without these 's days)

More to come the next few months.

That is a Hot looking axe! Damn clever using the wave form too! It is a really sexy package, but it is still classy. Very cool.

Do you mind sharing what dye or stain you used to get that shade of red?

It's a shame you put that beautiful wood and that beautiful red on a tele. Would have made a killer SG.

That is the truth, it's would have made a killer SG, come on now though, when have you ever seen a SG look this good ;)

The good news is that if you play it, you won't care what shape it was slapped into, the fralins are some of the best blues sounding pickups I've used!

No fear though  the next one out the doors is special 3-tone burst I think you guys will love on a tele.

I think I will need to be bringing the Ipad into the Men's room for a little while now.

    Nicholas,

I'm working on a non traditional LP Jr/Special double cut that is getting a maple top, and I was going finish it trans red. When I saw your thread I thought aha this is the perfect color. Did you use Gibson trans red? Judging color on a monitor is sketchy, but your guitar appears brighter than the traditional Gibby trans red. If you'd share, I'd love to know how you achieved the transparent red.

Did you dye black first, sand back, and then shoot your trans red followed by clear coats? Thanks!

It's really more like a fender mid-night red (Wine Red in the nitro world) You are correct, Black first then sand, we did not do the back that way, just the red. It is quite a bit brighter than the Gibson, I'll post some better photo's today.

    Thanks!

I'll probably try to mix my own with Trans Tint dyes if I can. It'll probably take a fair bit of experimentation.
