My dad died in March, these are some real old harmonicas that he owned that I inherited.
All are made in Germany, one is double sided and all the lettering is German
I fooled around with harmonica as a kid, maybe I'll try to learn again.

And his old Army knife, he was stationed in the South Pacific and witnessed some atomic tests around 1948 IIRC.
    It's still very sharp!

Very cool stuff, and sorry for your loss. I lost my Dad about a yr and 1/2 ago.
A big chromatic, and that "Chromettica 8" looks like it has button as well?

Sorry to hear about your dad. That's a great collection of very personal items to remember him by. Beautiful knife...they don't make 'em like that anymore. Looks like he's sharpened and used it quite a bit over the years.

Yeah he had a thing about sharpening knives, some of the other small pocket knives he had were about worn out from sharpening!
The Chrometta does have a slide button too, it's the most used of the bunch.

I'm glad you have some of your father's cool stuff. I have the same from my old man & it's like having a little piece of him still.

Your dad took care of his things. Nice.

I have my great grandmother's Echo just like the one on the left. Used to play it in her smoke filled apartment while she listened to Pittsburgh Pirates games on the AM radio.

I also have a Chrometta 8 just like that one in the middle that I got at a thrift several years back.

Nice to have things to remember someone by. I'll always have Kitty's Echo and her opera glasses.

I carry a pocket knife that my dad also carried. Its a connection that is hard to describe but it just feels right. Your post makes me wish my dad had played a harp. You should learn to play.

Condolences on your loss. Just for interest's sake, as you may already know that German inscription literally means "ECHO BELL-PURE VOICING" i.e. as we'd say, "sounds clear as a bell".

Harmonica was my first musical instrument and although I don't play much any more, apart from that double-sided beastie I have or have had examples of all those models.

    Sorry for your loss.
I have an old Echo like that - they have 2 sets or reeds per side, slightly off tuned from each other, making a sort of echo sound (actually more of a harmonic discord). Each side plays a different key. Pretty cool.
I also have the same knife from my dad - actually my son has it.
