I don't have a problem with the information, just the fact that there are weenies out there who really, really think it's important to be first in line with those updates.

Awful news. Full Moon Fever was my first "favorite" album when it came out, and it led me deeper down the road to all of his awesome tele-laden music. I can't think of another musician who better represents the last 30 years of rock and roll in America. This one really sucks hard. Here's my favorite of his albums:

I'm starting this thread because it seems like we need a place for people to leave their comments on the passing of Tom Petty. So, I'll start:

Dude was a great talent and made terrific music. The world and the world of music will be a lesser place with him not in it.

    RIP Tom Petty.

This one is gonna hit me the hardest when I look back at the last couple of years and all the legends who have passed. One of my all time favorites. May God bless his family and friends.

This is just awful to read. My girlfriend especially likes his music; she often mentions how great his live show was in New Orleans when she saw him perform. We are just so sad.

I didn't have a clue as to his age.

What a tremendous talent he was, and so unique.

  15. At least there's a certain immortality in music. My 6 year old's favorite song is The Waiting. Never in the car more than a minute before he says "Can we hear The Waiting" then "Louder".

God Speed TP, ya done good

CBS news confirms Petty is dead at age 66. My son and I saw him a couple years back. Great band. RIP Tom Petty.

Sad, sad day.....Tom carried the torch for great guitar-oriented rock for a long time. He and Mike Campbell helped resurrect those "sixties-ish" guitar tones back in the early eighties. Tom could write fresh, new songs that could have been from the British invasion. The guitar world has lost a true advocate.....R.I.P.

With all due respect and consideration, this strikes harder to my heart than the loss of Monty Hall or Hugh Hefner.....my heart is broken.
