Man....that sucks! Thanks for the Great tunes Tom, RIP.
man this is sad news, prayers to his family & friends
Yeah, seems to be official. I love these people who can't wait to be the first person to update Wikipedia after someone dies. Wiki page already has birth and death dates, and refers to him in the past tense.
Totally bummed out. I was just looking at concert tickets a few weeks ago. Honestly I wasn't a big Petty fan growing up but recently I started listening more because of a video I saw with Mike Campbell on his Broadcaster. Bought his greatest hits album on iTunes and it realized they had a lot of great songs. Just when I came around to seeing how great he was and now...gone.
Rest in Peace, Tom. Thanks for so much memorable music.
Thoughts and prayers to his family and friends.
I googled it and found it on Fox, Yahoo and a business news site after hearing it on my car radio. I try to verify everything before commenting on stuff like this but hey, its the internet so you never know till it really takes hold.
Damn, just saw the news and it caught my breath. Not Tom ... say it ain't so.
According to NME he's gone
Rest in peace, Tom. Thanks for the music.
I transferred this from a VHS tape. Please set your flash player to 480P.
That’s so sad. He was great.
Sad sad day. Where to begin on his legacy. Thinking of his family and friends...
As it should.
I watched Wiki list him as passed, then not passed, and then dead again, over the last little bit.
Sad day all the way around! RIP Tom P. Thanks for all the great music.
Damn - a very talented dude to say the least. A great band leader and his buried treasure show on Tom Petty radio was fantastic.
(Don't smoke people !)
Thanks Tom ! Your music made me happy.
What an incredible sadness today.
Very sad to hear..
Time to break out the Rik 12, an acoustic and jam to some Tom Petty tunes. RIP...
Rip. Tom. Loved his straight forward melodies.
Very sad and bad news,
RIP Tom, thank you for all the great music !
RIP Tom, thanks for saving my life with your music. You undoubtedly left a permanent mark on this world for so many of us and should be proud of what you cultivated. You will be dearly missed!
