This hurts. Tom Petty is one of my very favorites.

Still no confirmation that he is officially gone on to his reward.

Inspired by the many years of pleasure from TP and company I went out and sacrificed several dead presidents on a new amp this afternoon.

Oh come on, don't do me like that!

"Damn the torpedoes" is one of my all time faves.

Another one of the Traveling Willburys goes down. Dylan and Jeff Lynne the only ones left.

Yes! I remember that. It gave me a whole lot of respect for that song
reading the pop ups that he wrote it after someone torched his house.

No pun or bad taste intended. I really will miss him. I hope this to be true.

I liked Tom's singles, but when I first moved to Tucson in the '80's, my roommate and I had a cassette tape of "Long After Dark." We played the heck out of that tape. In fact, I might have ended up with it. It was certainly the soundtrack to that period in my life. It wasn't until maybe fifteen years ago that I really got seriously into his music and started collecting the back catalog. I got to see him at Red Rocks about ten years ago. What a great show.

Where ever you are, what ever state of being you are in, thanks for the music and life lessons within, Tom Petty.

I already mentioned on another related post, that I thankfully, caught him & the Heartbreakers, live, in the early 90's & a few years ago, with the great Steve Winwood, opening. In retropect, he was easily one of the greatest rockers to emerge from after my late '70's high school graduation. What a tragic loss...thank you for the incredible music!

Appears to be the fault of CBS... he is apparently alive, but unresponsive. Strange how one media outlet caused the entire world to think he’s dead.

They said what everyone was thinking, and expecting to hear.

And every news organization wants to be the first to break it... even if they had no real confirmation.

That's how we do it now.

I'm totally devastated and in total shock. Been crying like a freaking baby all day. Tom's been my musical hero since I was a tiny child. Such a humble and genuine person and one of the best song writers of our time. He had such a beautiful mind and I'm so thankful he shared it with us. Rock and roll was his life and he gave it everything he had. Thank you Tom!

You know what, that'd really be something if they really screwed up on reporting this (including inaccurately reporting the removal from life support), and he came back to rock some more
