Using the whole fist doc?
Last week I got the follow-up to a 15-yr old root canal. The procedure was apicoectomy, which means the endodonist cut a hole in my jawbone and cut off the tips of the roots of a molar and removed necrotic tissue. After the anesthesia wore off, there was a lot of swelling and pain and ugly discoloration of the outside of my cheek. That was Thursday. Today, I did not take hydrocodone.
I’ve had some brutal root canals. Last one I had I went to a guy in Boston that only does root canals.
I laid back and watched Netflix left with Tylenol and was in and out in an hour - a little pain that night but I’ve had fillings that were worse.
Go to a specialist.
Thank you for your service. Viet Nam veterans were treated horrendously in most parts of the US, yes that would definitely be worse than a root canal or three.
What's worse? Saying goodbye to a tooth that can no longer be salvaged.
I had a root canal (2005) that 5-6 years later, went into abscess. On the same tooth, another root canal w/crown was done (2011) and lasted another 6 years. The crown eventually cracked and a piece broke off.
I "split the root" and now that tooth has to be extracted. The only consolation is that it is a rear, top molar. Down the road, I'm looking at a minimum of $1,600 for an implant.
Man, what are ya chewing on??
Ia Drang? Nothing but respect for you, sir.
Nothing too daring; pizza crust and tortilla chips are probably the most dangerous things/food. Being 53 doesn't help either.
I've had a few other root canals; 25-30 years later they have endured.
Fearing testicular torsion or major injury due to sudden random onset of nausea inducing severe groin pain, having an ultrasound tech called in, and finding out it's just a cyst. A 5.5 cm cyst... Oh, and it took 7 hours in the ER to find that out.
Guess I'll be praying when I go to the urologist on Monday.
Was thinking that. Thinking of the hospital stay and four stints. But I've also had two root canals that had to be done over as they screwed up and missed an extra nerve canal. Close second.
Root canal without Novocaine. The Marquis Du Sade had nothing on my childhood dentist. Straight out of Little Shop of Horrors.
As far as tooth pain, an untreated tooth needing a root canal with an abscess. That was by far some of the worst tooth related pain I've felt. It worsened on the weekend and by the time I was able to get to the dentist on Monday it felt like someone was driving a spike into my head.
When the dentist finally drilled into my tooth, the release of pressure from the abscess created a puss explosion. I was so glad to get that root canal.
Lots of things. I've had two and they're not that bad. I don't want to have another one but I didn't find them to be as bad as everyone always makes them out to be.
What's worse than a root canal? The bill.
It's the things like when he says "this is the most famous Flying V in the world" that get me. He always states that what he has is the most, best, rarest. He once said in one of these videos that the sweatshirt he was wearing was the most photographed sweatshirt in the world , it's that overblown sense of self-importance that he has that really turns me off. I never even heard of this V before and apparently Norm Harris had it for 40 years. Norm isn't exactly a household name, even among guitar player. I can think of at leasr 4 Vs that would immediately come to mind for guitarists besides this one.
Getting your teeth whitened is way worse than a root canal. When they hit the gums it's much more painful.
Operations to remove wisdom teeth are also much worse. I had to get it done because it was growing into another tooth. Dentists that want to do them "just because" or so they can make a buck should be made to walk the plank,
Ding ding ding
We have a winner!
Leo Kottke, geese fart in a fog.
Off his live album My Feet Are Smiling
One thing I have never understood is why teeth care is not included with your regular healthcare. Why not exclude the eyes or ears also?
Seriously makes no sense...
The meeting I was in yesterday. Watching a guy flip 180 degrees in an hour and 45 minutes to the opinion we started and the then he explained we were wrong.
