Two days ago i put a EH 12AY7 in the V1 position of my BDRI.
The volume jump (1-2) is now better to handle and the sound is warmer.
But it's a bit too clean (too much headroom) for me on both channels.

And when i switch to the drive channel it has much more heighs/treble and is a bit harsher.

In an old thread i read to put 5751 in both V1 + V2.
Could this solve my problem: Warmer overall sound, less harsh but enough gain and balanced EQ on both channels?

    Greetings

A 5751 roughly splits the difference between a 12AX7 and a 12AY7. You can mix and match those three types in the first two preamp sockets to tweak the channel gains, too. I don't have the schematic in front of me right now, but I believe the second socket (V2) is only active for the Drive channel, and V1 is used in all channels.

Possibly. The only way to know is buy one, install it and find out.

There are other variables - the other tubes in the amp (both preamp and power), power tube bias setting, how hard the amp is being pushed *and* the loudness (volume) level you play at, tone control settings (which change depending on where you're playing and how loud), speaker type and so on.

A single tube normally only makes subtle changes. It often takes fully "tuning" the amp to your playing to really get the sound you want. It might help to get hold of a qualified amp tech that can help you do this. There should be techs in larger cities in Germany.

    Today i replaced V1&V2 with the 5751.
Unbelievable. Great sound now i love the Drive channel.
Both channels sound like i wanted.
No need to change the speaker.

I always found my Blues Deluxe to be a little harsh and ice picky. I tried different combinations and landed on 12AT7 in V1, 12AY7 in V2, and 12AX7 in V3. Has crystal clear Blackface like cleans! This makes the drive channel pretty much unusable but it sounded like **** before anyway so I'm not missing anything. Fulltone Fat Boost into a Tube Screamer and you can get better overdrive at lower volume than if you use the ****ty drive channel.
