Not the long haired guy with the moustache, but all the other musicians were making their living in my - now - home town.
Bill Withers is originally from a coal town near Beckley WV
Kathy Mattea is from Charleston
Brad Paisley is from Glen Dale
Billy Ray Cyrus is from KY but used to play weekly in a dive bar in the West end here (Huntington WV). You don't want me to post the Achy Breaky Heart video, do you? Instead I'll post an oldie from Zachariah, a local band that took a run at fame in the late 70s early 80s, but didn't quite make it
And, I must apologize for this one but one of these guys is from the same county I live in...
From my tiny little town I think we can boast one member of Judas Priest ( Glenn Tipton lives about four miles away from my house), where Robert Plant went to grammar school and a finalist from Britain’s Got Talent.
However, if I broadened the radius a bit I guess we’d get Black Sabbath, The Wonderstuff, Judas Priest, The Move ( and therefore part of ELO) , The (English) Beat, Diamond Head, Duran Duran, Musical Youth, UB40, Steel Pulse, half of Led Zeppelin, Beverley Knight, Slade. My son’s teacher used to be in Pop Will Eat Itself.
Probably some people from the 21st century but they will have passed me by...
RIP Eff Jott.
J Geils Band
The G Cleffs
...a few that I know of.
Beat me to it... Dick Dale is from my hometown and even went to the same high school as me. Some of the Dropkicks are from my town as well.
I'll toss in a few more (you'll be able to tell what years I was in my clubbing prime... I'm looking at my ticket stubs!):
Mission of Burma
Letters to Cleo
Mighty Mighty Bosstones
The Del Fuegos
Tribe (perhaps the most underrated Boston band ever)
Human Sexual Response
Treat Her Right
Texas...where to start?
I live in TN now, too many to name. So, I will go with my home state of Missouri.
Brewer & Shipley
Winnipeg Manitoba Canada... A small city of about 750,000 4 hours north of FARGO! (ie: the middle of nowhere).

The Amoebas, a 4 piece group from Maryland USA in the early 1960's ... This was recorded in 1964. I'm on guitar using my new 1964 Strat, Gibson 400 amp and a Fender tape delay.
Fort Collins, Colorado USA
Duane Eddy, 1958, "Rebel Rouser". Album cover at :13 -- :16 is taken at ramada at South Mountain Park, overlooking Phoenix. I'm not originally from Phoenix, Army sent me here in 1987 and I pretty much stayed.
