    Is it just me?
Every time I read this phrase I have to go wash my hands.
I'm really not sure what they are saying, though I think they are describing a positive playing experience.
But "butter" anywhere close to my fingerboard is something I've always tried to avoid.
So what am I missing ??

Butter is supposed to be good.
Like Butter but, not really Butter.
    Yeah, kind of confusing.

'Cause it sounds better than if they told the truth, and said, it's plays like barbed wire on a fence post, it might kind of lose some of the appeal intended.

It's kind of a cross between a dissimile and a mixed metaphor

I think most people who use it also don't know what it means, but other people say it so they have to, too.

I generally glaze over when I see, as it means nothing to me.

I think it means that the guitar feels really smooth and it's easy to play.

But seriously, do you really wash your hands every time you read that phrase?

It means the owner eats a lot of buttery treats and never wipes the neck down.
My acoustic plays like Bacon and fried sausage.

It's one of the very few guitar related phrases that brings out the El Kabong in me.

Because it has a better ring to it than "Plays like polyunsaturated fats."

Have you ever tried to butter a slice of bread with buttah straight out of the fridge?
    Smooth, it is not.

I say that all the time cuz I like to hear myself say 'buttah'. Sometimes I write it in posts. It's sounds cool in my head, anyway. Kinda like how the songs I write always sound great to me, right up to point I actually play and record them so others can hear them.
