Eric Idle has a new book out... apparently this song is very popular at funerals in England -

My "funerial" tastes run more to traditional Presbyterian church fare. Pipe organ and choir type stuff. The only "less-typical" song would be "In Christ There Is No East Or West", accompanied only by an autoharp.....this was how our (long departed) choir director used to do it at our yearly choir festivals. I like the message of inclusion in the text.
I'd also like a bagpiper doing Amazing Grace, if one can be found.

I know it's impossible but I wish I could play/sing at my own funeral!
Maybe a John Prine song ( Paradise, Illegal Smile?)

The wife of one of my former bandmates/bass player ( his name Tom, her Jerry, so 'Tom and Jerry ') keeps asking me to sing Van Morrison's " Into the Mystic" at her funeral.
I keep telling her " Jerry, I'm going long before you do!"

I knew about Jason Isbell but hadn't checked out his work until last weekend. It didn't take me long to run across "If We Were Vampires," which is a gut punch of a song. Judging from the premise of the song, it should not work. But it does -- a little too well.

I'd like Rain Song played, maybe the later unplugged version by Page n Plant.

A lifelong friend of mine, who died far too young a couple of years ago, chose her songs. She was a devoted Queen fan and a large lass and with great humour picked Fat Bottom Girls and Another One Bites the Dust.
