Salvaged from a red sparkle job that badly went Pete Tong last year, I routed out the front for a P-90 and decided to go pink. Zhangbucker Chimecaster at the bridge and custom-wound P-90 at the neck. Standard 3-way circuit. Wilkie compensated bridge. Dot and bound neck, slightly wider than vintage and shallower. Good for getting the thumb over. Just waiting on the string ferrules and control knobs and we're off. Couldn't resist posting as she is!!

That looks gorgeous. The bound neck with the pink works really well. Colour me jealous. Or pink.

Still waiting on the ferrules for the strings but as soon as she's strung up I'll post back.

Doesn't it just? And it had to be mint green for the 'guard!

I had to look up the term "Pete Tong"...
That's a very attractive color and pickup combination, and the bound neck is a nice feature.
Please update us when you finish it!

Are you gonna do anything with the naked head stock?

I have two of them, they bother me, and I can't decide how to handle them.

Yeh, I'll put something custom on there. Hate naked headstocks.

The rosewood is rich and has some lovely figuring in it. A very dark rosewood, too.

    Zombie thread revival alert!

Ok, so, I'm lazy and only got around to wiring Pinkie up recently. I swapped out the tuners (the fitted ones were terrible) and mounted Kluson copies with a pearloid button. And I've lost the round string retainer somewhere.

Anyway, she sounds good but the P90 sounds very full and a bit bassy on its own. This is first guitar with a P90 that I've had and somehow I expected it to be a bit more bright. It's not muddy but it's not quite what I was expecting.

    What value on the pots?

I like my p90 a little farther from the strings with the slugs a little higher but that's just my personal preference on my P90 and Bucker gits.

250/250. No way am I putting a 500 in there.

The P90 is quite a bit away from the strings. Would want it much closer.

Just a little better note separation when strumming chords for me. Easier to tone down the bass so the treble comes through. I just looked and the bass side of my P90 neck pup the screws are flush but the treble side is a good 1/8" up. I don't have a git with a Bucker or P90 with 250 pots so I'm not sure how to help. I am going to face this dilemma with you soon, as I have one of Robs Cavalier Phoenix firebirds coming soon but I'm hoping it is trebly enough to compete with the other two single coil pickups.

Wish I had a better suggestion!

Won't 500 pot make the Tele pup super-bright?

Ahh, right, I catch what you're doing with the P90 screws. I might have a go at that.

You could use a 500K pot to brighten up the P90 and then a 470 k resistor on the bridge pickup, so when you switch to the bridge it only "sees" 250k.

Your result is common. Sorry you expected better.
    P 90 s are misunderstood.
I really think, that's where Gibson / Bill Lawrence came in. Wanted a better option.
They are good for a certain thing, but not versatile or well rounded.
I think of full out classic rock.
Probably designed for jazzy, they are dark.
As with most things pickup, the use and the intent soon
    Parted.
