Seriously, a few of my pedals have pilot lights with lenses that focus the light upward, and when I go to adjust volume, or speed, or compression, or whatever, I can't read what's on the dials. Anybody have the same problem? Anybody solve it?

    Electrical tape.

Works great for those annoying 'Check Engine' lights, too.

EDIT for seriousness: If I had a pedal that blinded me, I'd just pop the sucker open and replace that blue aircraft landing beacon with a good ol' fashion red or green LED, in "normal brightness" flavor. But that's just me...

    out yonder!
I just use a Sharpie. It will still let the led shine but knocks a lot of the brightness down.

Regular white masking tape, it will dull/opaque the light enough that it won’t blind you, but you can still see that the light is on. Similarly I’ve seen people have had success with sandpaper on the glass/plastic light cover for the same (similar) effect.

I had some taillight repair tape handy, so I put a little piece of that over it.

Replace the LED limiter resistor with a 4.7K. If you're dealing with an SMD board, easier said then done, but can still be done.

I had a Durham Mucho Boosto awhile ago.
    Great sounding pedal, BTW.
The blue light on it drove me nuts.
I got rid of the pedal, but I’m still nuts.
    Doh!

Never had this problem with pedals, but the foot switch that came with my Bugera V22 was blinding. Had to put one layer of tape over the blue light and two over the red light.

yeah, the pilot light on my tc electronic pedal are bright enough to cut through the eyes or ceiling.
and handy-dandy piece of blue masking tape over the pilot light makes a world of difference for me.
