Here's my old growth Cherrywood knotcaster! I've grown to love building with unconventional pieces of wood. That really celebrate the wood. I did some custom work for a guy and he paid me with this cherry wood. I showed up to collect my wood and I was standing on a 19 foot slab! He cut me off a 6-foot by 3 ft slab and we had to use a tractor to put it on top of an SUV! And he's got three more 19-foot slabs! I can't imagine how big this tree was! Anyways, the wood has been drying for some time now and has cracked and checked basically all over. But I actually like it, I filled it with epoxy and then used wipe on poly for finish. I haven't got the resources to spray finish, I'll get into that later on I guess. I came across a lollar Charlie Christian so I threw that in the neck and I've got a hot rails Bridge pickup on the way! Sounds incredible. I did some weight relief under the pickguard. It's still pretty heavy, I'd say a tad over the Les Paul range. But for personal guitar I'm not worried about weight so much. Thanks for looking!
