Oh, why do I love this $99 guitar so?
I just took it all apart to give it a good run on the buffing wheel so it will shine, like God intended guitars to do, and I thought it needed a pick guard.
Never did this before, but...an aftermarket Tele PG with some hogged-out holes, a coping saw and a file...
It still wants a little clean-up on the edges, but here ya go.

    .

The Epi Specials are under rated by many because of the price, but they are a big value.
When bought used for $15-$25 there is a lot of room for modding .... this one has push/pull coil split and a fret level. Gets played a lot more than other fancier guitars.

I had one just like that I put a 57 classic plus in, I miss that guitar.

Mine might get a Duncan p90 at the bridge because I found one in a shoebox full o' pickups.
I REALLY enjoy playing this guitar.
It plays as well as anything I have.
It could easily be my #1 gigger, but I have other guitars that make me feel cooler when I hold them.
    There...I said it and I'm glad ;)

Some eBay seller has pickguards for these. You can get black or red tortoise shell.

Nice! Like to see a pix with everything re-installed--competed.

I'm of the TV Yellow persuasion also. I agree that these are a super deal. I was in GC last Saturday and they had the black and red on sale for $129---I picked them up and had a look but I'm so glad I held out for the TV yellow. All I've done to mine was install Gotoh Keystone Vintage tuners. Love those stock P-90's. Platefire

BTW-Are you suppose to loosen the strings to adjust the action on the wrap around bridge?

Here is a older humbucker one with the Gibson truss rod cover I re-worked.
