I believe that "genius" and "perfect" are words that are taken way too lightly these days, but the thread about Glen Campbell and Alzheimer reminded me about his "Bloodline" album from 1976.
I've listened through it again (multiple times) - especially BucksStudent's remastered tracks - and I can't think of one thing that could be bettered. The songs, the arrangements, the production, the singing/playing - everything is perfect IMO.
The Cars self - titled first album is damn near perfect IMHO.
There are many perfect albums. Too many to list. In the ear of the enginer and artist as well as the producer every album they produce is perfect or near perfect.
some more heavy and great albums
Paul Butterfield Blues Band East-West
Blood Sweat and Tears ( Al Kooper )
Spooky Tooth- Spooky Two
James Gang - Yer Album
Radiohead - OK Computer
The Smiths - Meat is Murder
Aphex twin - Selected Ambient Works 85-92
Television - Marquee Moon
Good choices! I haven't listened to that Aphex Twin album for ages, I must dig it out.
What you're saying is in fact that "every" album is perfect - at least at the time of production/release.
That is of course ridiculous, and the people you mention are, thank god, not the ones who will make the judgement in this case.
1+ on elliott smith.
"XO" "Either Or" "Figure 8" are pretty much "perfect" albums...Perfectly messed-up ( I mean that in a good way)
